If both urine FEME and urine culture are required, please send samples in separate containers. If obtaining separate (aliquoted) samples is not feasible, please call the laboratory in advance (6394 1352 /1354) to request for an exception*. See additional information.

*Minimum volume is ≥20 mL (adult) and ≥ 3mL (paediatric)

For accurate results, urine FEME (urinalysis) specimens should be sent to the laboratory within 30 mins after specimen collection, for analysis.

Note: Clean-catch urine collection for female:
1. Wash hands with soap and water.
2. Wipe urethra opening and vaginal vestibule area with gauze pads soaked with liquid soap.
3. Rinse these areas thoroughly with water or wipe with wet gauze pads.
4. Separate labia during voiding.
5. Do not collect first few mL of urine, collect midstream portion.
